Cellar steps are in !

Well it took alittle while to lay out the stringers, it is the hardest thing in carpentry to do. With the help from my wonderful neighbor Orval, we accomplished the feat. Now we can get upstairs without going outside, sweet. We treated our neighbors Brad , Lisa & Butch to a mexican dinner & drinks on us last night. It's a small thank you for all they have done for us.Brad is going to help me wire the electric , thank god , cause it's my weak suit. I almost can't wait till fall , the humidity is opressive !

Hot !

The heat & humidity have been tough to work in the house. With no insulation at the moment the metal gets hot. The temp was 107 yesterday , with the windows open. I got the floor section removed for the cellar steeps, what a b...h ! I snapped off 2 phillip head bits trying to remove the bolts that hold down the wood , they won't come out. So i had to cut thru the wood floor with sawzall and circular saw , to expose the steel supports. Then with my gas torch and sawzall , i cut out the opening. Then i chained the floor to the walls upstairs so it would'nt fall thru. My neighbor stopped by and asked me if i wanted help lowering the floor, ah sure ! We lowered it , carried it out , it had to weigh like 500 lbs. , Thanks Vinny & Teresa ! Next is to layout the stringers for the steps and bolt a head board to mount them to. Tommorow its suppose to cool down , i hope.

Brush hogging day !

It was time to take a day out to brushog the pasture. Also Katie and i are taking off the bars that use to lock the doors , so i can finish framing the doors. I had to get my oxygen tank filled so i can cut the floor supports out for our steps from cellar to above floor. I did a first on Friday nite , went coon hunting. My friend brought his bloodhounds down " Daisy & Duke " . Within a half hour i shot my first coon , this lowers the population of trouble. They will eat your corn up in 2 nights. I'm fianally learning to take a break !

There the best , it's great to have awesome neighbors ! I also got the area where the air conditioner will go framed out. That's it for today , see ya !

Replacing the doors !

Today i cut the 2 steel doors off the one trailer. There were 4 hinges on each door and i had to cut each pin top and bottom with a sawzall to remove them. Then i framed the opening to except the new double steel doors we bought. I wanted to do that before i installed the air conditioner , because it's so close to the doors. Tomorrow the doors should be on !

We took a break today !

Today we woke up and it was raining . My next steps are to cut thru the one door and install our new air conditioner and to cut off the 2 trailer doors and install our double doors. Neither is good to do on a rainy day. So here in our town twice a year they have an antique engine show. It happenened to be today and tomorrow, so we picked up an umbrella at the dollar store and we went. I missed the show the last 2 years since we bought the property because of bad timing. Now was my chance . The guy that did our excavating and the guy that dug our well both were there. They both were glad to see us , since they invited us 2 years ago and we never made it. So its not container related but i got some nice pictures to share we you ! We may go back tomorrow , there will be more engines and a parade !

Doors are welded shut

Today my wonderful neighbor Orval welded 3 of the 4 doors shut. There's no better man for the job, he was a navy welding teacher . Now you must realize this man is 81 years old and he still welds overhead bareback, impressive ! Now that the doors are welded shut , i can remove the bars that lock the doors. Also i'm done framing, all besides the doors ,that i wanted to wait till they were welded so i could get to the nuts & bolts easier, to take off the bars. We bought an air conditioner that were putting in the wall , which is one of the doors. So the timing could'nt be better. Thank Orval !!! I also started the plumbing...

Still framing !

The last few days i have framed out the wall between the bedrooms. I also have framed more of the ceiling joists  and the inner walls. The last framing to be done is the walls on either side of the basement steps ( not there yet ) and the front door. I want to cut the opening in the floor first before installing the walls , so there not in the way. We also have 2 new doe that cross our pasture , this morning our dogs recognized them. When i called them to come back , they did but they ran them all the way off the property. I'm worried they will keep running after them but their proving me wrong, thank god !
